French Teacher – Lower School (Semi‑Part Time)

About the role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated French Teacher for the Lower School on a semi‑part‑time basis. The successful candidate will join the High School team and begin work immediately, delivering high‑quality French instruction to young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with the GEMS curriculum.
• Assess, record and report on student progress, adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
• Maintain accurate records of curriculum plans, attendance, assessments and teaching resources.
• Utilise media and classroom technology to enhance learning experiences.
• Support diverse learners, including ESL, late‑entering, gifted and low‑ability students.
• Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed of progress while respecting confidentiality.
• Participate in co‑curricular and extra‑curricular programmes, school events and committees.
• Uphold GEMS policies, core values and codes of conduct at all times.
• Collaborate with colleagues on resource development and pastoral care.
• Monitor student behaviour, promote self‑discipline and foster cultural awareness.

• Excellent communication skills for interaction with students, parents and school officials.

Required skills

• Fluency in French with the ability to teach the language to lower‑school students.
• Competence in using classroom media and technology to support instruction.
