GIS Specialist for Transport Data Management

About the role

DB Engineering & Consulting is seeking an experienced GIS Specialist to lead the development and maintenance of GIS databases supporting the Transport Data Management System (TDMS) in Qatar. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide spatial data solutions for transport planning and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of GIS databases for TDMS.
• Manage collection, integration, validation, and spatial analysis of transport, mobility, infrastructure, and land‑use datasets.
• Develop and maintain geospatial data models, digital mapping products, and spatial information services.
• Support transport planning, traffic engineering, and modelling teams with advanced spatial analysis and visualization tools.
• Administer GIS platforms, geodatabases, and ArcGIS Enterprise environments to ensure data accessibility, security, and reliability.
• Produce GIS dashboards, thematic maps, web‑mapping applications, and spatial reporting tools for the Ministry of Transport and stakeholders.
• Establish GIS data standards, quality‑control procedures, metadata requirements, and governance practices.
• Coordinate with government agencies and external stakeholders to facilitate data sharing and continuous improvement of transport geospatial assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in GIS, spatial analytics, geospatial database management, or transport‑related GIS applications.
• Proven experience implementing and managing ArcGIS Enterprise, enterprise geodatabases, and web‑based GIS solutions.
• Experience working with government agencies, transport authorities or large‑scale infrastructure programs; GCC experience highly desirable.
