Head Accountant – Finance Leadership (Doha)

About the role

We are looking for an accomplished Head Accountant to join our finance leadership team in Doha. The role demands strategic financial oversight, deep technical expertise, and hands‑on experience with European accounts and audit processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and month‑end/year‑end close.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar regulations (IFRS/QAS) and applicable European accounting standards.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, setting performance benchmarks.
• Oversee internal and external audits and liaise with auditors and regulators.
• Develop and improve internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, forecasts and identify risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration with finance, operations, and executive leadership.
• Handle multi‑entity, multi‑currency accounting environments, especially for European entities.
• Drive process automation and efficiency improvements across the finance function.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
• Proven experience with European accounts, multi‑jurisdiction financial management, or cross‑border reporting.
• Strong audit background, preferably with Big 4 exposure.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and European GAAP/reporting frameworks.
• Advanced analytical ability and strategic thinking.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Based in Qatar.
