HSSEQ Superintendent

About the role

The HSSEQ Superintendent is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the Safety Management System across the fleet, ensuring compliance with flag state regulations, company policies, and international standards. The role also oversees vessel security, emergency response planning, and audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and update the NSQL Management System, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, and the company SMS.
• Supervise the HSSEQ management system, monitor regulatory changes, and ensure fleet compliance with ISM and ISPS codes.
• Act as Designated Person Ashore or alternate Security Officer, develop security procedures, and lead emergency response exercises.
• Conduct internal ISM and ISPS audits, address non‑conformances, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related maritime discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of occupational health & safety experience, including at least 4 years in oil and gas shipping.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental management systems and HSSEQ audits.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio.
• Experience using Adobe Acrobat for documentation.
