HVAC Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Engineer (HVAC) leads a maintenance team to ensure preventive and corrective tasks are performed efficiently, supports senior technical staff, and drives continuous improvement in facility performance. The role also involves reporting equipment faults, preparing technical reports, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and train the maintenance team on HVAC tasks and asset knowledge.
• Ensure planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective work are completed on schedule.
• Coordinate subcontractors, schedule visits, and supervise their work.
• Prepare documentation, permits, and obtain necessary authority approvals.
• Monitor spare‑part levels, requisitions, and availability.
• Produce reports on defects, breakdowns, and equipment performance.
• Maintain duty rosters and oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSEQ) compliance.
• Escalate equipment or tool shortages and report incidents to line management.
• Develop and implement method statements, risk assessments, and COSHH documentation.
• Lead special projects and liaise with customer managers as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of maintenance management experience in a comparable facility.
• Strong team‑building, problem‑solving, and dispute‑resolution abilities.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations such as OSHA, MSDS, NFPA, and BS standards.

Required skills

• Engineering degree (mechanical or related discipline).
• Knowledge of OSHA, MSDS, NFPA, and BS regulations.
• Computer literacy for maintenance management systems.
• Ability to produce technical reports and documentation.
• Solid technical knowledge of HVAC systems and self‑learning capability.
