Lead Mechanical Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

The Lead Mechanical Engineer – Oil & Gas will provide technical leadership for the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems across oil and gas facilities. This senior position drives engineering standards, ensures compliance with industry codes and mentors a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and efficient equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and related components.
• Perform mechanical calculations, stress and thermodynamic analyses to validate equipment performance.
• Develop and maintain mechanical design standards, conduct design audits and manage design changes.
• Oversee pressure‑vessel and piping design, ensuring ASME code compliance and proper material selection.
• Design rotating‑equipment systems and HVAC solutions to meet process and comfort requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors, support equipment procurement and evaluate technical proposals.
• Manage and mentor the mechanical engineering team and external design consultants.
• Integrate mechanical designs with other disciplines, resolve interface conflicts and maintain documentation traceability.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas sector.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage external consultants.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, especially ASME standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
