Lecturer in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

About the role

The Department of Humanities at Qatar University seeks a full‑time Lecturer in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to join the faculty in January 2027. The role involves teaching and developing courses in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial data science while contributing to the university’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial data science.
• Design classroom‑based labs and practical exercises that integrate GIS software and real‑world datasets.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and project work.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish in reputable journals.
• Collaborate with faculty across departments and research centres on interdisciplinary projects.

Required profile

• PhD in Geographic Information Systems or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
• Strong publication record in GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial data science.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English.
