Librarian, Data Management

About the role

The Librarian, Data Management supports researchers across the entire research lifecycle, guiding them on data management, curation, metadata, and repository selection. The role also ensures data uploads meet archival standards and promotes open, FAIR data practices.

Key responsibilities

• Guide library users on open data, metadata standards (Dublin Core, DataCite, DDI) and FAIR principles.
• Develop and verify ontologies, support data visualization, mining, and bibliometric analysis.
• Oversee data uploads to the institutional repository, ensuring long‑term preservation.
• Produce library statistical reports, design trainings, and maintain guides, newsletters, and policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA‑accredited), Information Science, Data Science or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in an academic or clinical research library environment.
• Strong customer‑focused service orientation and ability to work independently or in a team.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Integrated Library Systems and open‑access web tools.
• Familiarity with metadata standards: Dublin Core, DataCite Schema, DDI.
• Proficiency with DMPTool, GitHub, Jupyter Notebooks, Power BI, R and Python.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
