Maintenance Engineer – Building & MEP (HVAC)

About the role

The Maintenance Engineer ensures the reliable operation of all heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning (HVAC) equipment and related building systems within the shipyard’s facilities. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, the role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of technicians and coordination of subcontractors to uphold high‑quality, auditable standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of the yard‑specific maintenance strategy and support the Head of Maintenance in translating it into short‑ to medium‑term work plans.
• Operate and maintain HVAC equipment, including dehumidifiers, chillers, air handling units, pumps, fan coil units, VRV units, ACCU units, window and split air‑conditioning units, and ventilation systems.
• Operate and maintain Low Voltage Power & Lighting systems, elevators, sliding doors, dock levelers, Building Maintenance Units (BMU), and ELV systems such as access control, barrier gates and intercoms.
• Operate and maintain plumbing equipment, including potable water booster pumps, circulation pumps and water heaters.
• Prepare and manage spare‑parts inventories for all equipment and assets.
• Support the Head of Maintenance in developing strategies to reduce equipment failure rates and improve maintenance KPIs.
• Prepare root‑cause analysis (RCA) reports and propose preventive actions.
• Draft Scope of Work, Scope of Service and tender documentation for subcontractor activities.
• Supervise subcontractors to ensure compliance with defined scopes.
• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians.
• Prepare fit‑for‑purpose work permits and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities to obtain approvals for system or structural changes.
• Communicate training needs, process‑improvement suggestions and follow‑up on implementation.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Mechanical or HVAC.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, HVAC Maintenance Engineer or equivalent.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment (dehumidifiers, chillers, AHUs, pumps, fan coil units, VRV units, ACCU units, window and split AC units, ventilation systems).
• Low Voltage Power & Lighting systems, elevators, sliding doors, dock levelers, Building Maintenance Units (BMU).
• Electrical Low Voltage (ELV) systems including access control, barrier gates and intercoms.
• Plumbing systems such as potable water booster pumps, circulation pumps and water heaters.
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and preparation of failure‑prevention proposals.
• Spare‑parts inventory management, work permit preparation and risk assessment.
• Supervision of subcontractors and maintenance technicians.
