Mechanical QA/QC Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role
Airswift is looking for an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join a major oil & gas client in Qatar. The role involves overseeing the quality of all mechanical discipline activities across construction and commissioning of large‑scale process plants and solar projects.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the QA/QC program for piping, pipelines, static and rotating equipment on green‑field and brown‑field projects.
- Develop, review and approve Quality Plans, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Material Approval Requests (MARs).
- Conduct and supervise inspections and testing for welding, NDT, heat treatment, painting, and structural works.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as ASME, API, ISO, AWS, BS EN, IOGP, Shell DEP and MESC specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, third‑party inspectors and client personnel in a multicultural environment.
- Provide technical guidance on acceptance criteria for piping systems, rotating equipment and pressure vessels.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical QA/QC on major oil & gas or large‑scale solar projects.
- IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor.
- Welding Inspector Certification (CSWIP 3.1 or AWS‑CWI).
- Painting Inspector Certification (BGAS Grade‑2 or NACE Level 2).
- NDT Level‑2 certification in RT, MT, UT and PT (ASNT/ACCP) – additional Level‑3 or advanced NDT (PAUT, TOFD, Auto‑UT) is a plus.
- Professional membership with ASNT, AWS, TWI, NACE, ASQ‑CMQ&OE, MCQI‑CQP or similar is desirable.

- CSWIP 3.1 / AWS‑CWI welding inspection.
- BGAS Grade‑2 / NACE Level 2 painting inspection.
- NDT Level‑2 (RT, MT, UT, PT) and optional advanced NDT techniques.
- Proficiency with ASME, API, ISO, ASTM, AWS, BS EN, IOGP, Shell DEP and MESC standards.
- Preparation and approval of Quality Plans, ITPs, QCPs and MARs.
- Inspection of piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, exchangers, tanks, pumps, compressors and other rotating equipment.
