Plaster / Cast Technician

About the role

The Plaster / Cast Technician works full‑time on‑site at Al Emadi Hospital in Qatar, providing essential casting and splinting services under the direction of orthopedic physicians and the wider clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Apply, adjust and safely remove plaster and fiberglass casts, splints and other orthopedic supports.
• Prepare patients for casting procedures and select appropriate materials.
• Maintain sterile, safe working conditions and adhere to infection‑control policies.
• Educate patients and families on cast care, mobility, and follow‑up instructions.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, physiotherapists and document procedures accurately.
• Monitor patients for complications such as pressure sores or circulation issues.
• Ensure casting equipment and supplies are stocked, maintained and compliant with hospital safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven casting and splinting skills, including plaster and fiberglass techniques.
• Basic knowledge of orthopedic anatomy, fracture types and immobilisation methods.
• Strong patient‑care communication and sensitivity to diverse needs.
• Attention to detail, infection‑control compliance and accurate documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple cases in a busy clinical environment.
• Relevant technical diploma or certification in casting/orthopedic technology; prior experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills for electronic medical records; fluency in English required, Arabic a plus.
• Eligibility to work in Qatar.
