Principal Engineer - Structures

About the role

AECOM is looking for an accomplished Principal Engineer - Structures to join its team in Doha, Qatar. This leadership role drives the structural design vision for complex, large-scale infrastructure projects, mentors a team of engineers and ensures compliance with Qatar building codes and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and direct the structural design of major infrastructure and commercial projects, from concept through construction administration
• Develop design strategies that balance performance, cost, sustainability and constructability
• Conduct advanced structural analysis and modeling, then review, approve and give feedback on designs, calculations and documentation
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers and project managers, and take part in client presentations and design reviews
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and contribute to proposals and project estimation
• Keep up with new technologies and materials, run quality assurance reviews and help with proposal development

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis
• 5+ years in a principal, senior or lead engineer role with leadership and team management experience
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
• Preferred: PE licensure or equivalent international qualification; preferred: experience with infrastructure projects such as bridges and tunnels

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS or SAFE
• Expert knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and BIM coordination
• Knowledge of international building codes and Qatar building regulations
• Preferred: FEA software, sustainable design and LEED or Estidama knowledge
