Process Controller / Control Room Operator (CCR Operator)

About the role

The role involves operating and monitoring a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plant using DCS/SCADA systems to ensure stable and efficient water production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SWRO plant processes through DCS/SCADA systems, including intake, pretreatment, DAF, ultrafiltration, high‑pressure pumps, RO trains, chemical dosing, product water and distribution.
• Respond to alarms and process deviations, taking corrective actions to maintain stable operation.
• Record operational data, prepare shift reports, monitor water quality parameters and analyze performance trends.
• Coordinate with field operators during start‑up, shutdown and emergencies, supervising field activities from the control room.
• Assist maintenance teams with troubleshooting, equipment isolation, instrument calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Follow HSE procedures, permit‑to‑work requirements and ensure compliance with environmental and water quality regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Process Technology, Water Treatment Technology or related field; technical/trade qualification with desalination experience may be accepted.
• 3–5 years of experience in SWRO desalination plants (≥50 MLD), water‑treatment or related process industries.
• Experience operating DCS, SCADA or PLC systems and knowledge of water‑treatment chemistry and chemical dosing.
