Process Engineer

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Engineering Fixed Facilities Department. Reporting to the Process Lead/Engineering Manager, you will contribute to a variety of energy and infrastructure projects, ensuring technical deliverables meet quality and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop heat and material balances using simulation software.
• Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to define unit operations for optimal product conversion.
• Size equipment and instrumentation, and produce detailed Process Data Sheets.
• Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and perform hydraulic and thermal calculations for steady‑state and transient conditions.
• Define utilities requirements, design related systems, and specify effluent quantities for environmental compliance.
• Draft operating manuals and test‑run procedures, and ensure contractual design philosophy is applied.
• Review technical quality of calculations, simulations, and junior engineer deliverables.
• Participate in multidisciplinary reviews such as HAZOP, 3D model checks, and P&ID reviews.

Required profile

• Engineering degree, preferably Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Process Engineer in EPC/EPCI, Oil & Gas, Energy, or industrial projects.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
• Experience working in multinational, multidisciplinary engineering teams is an advantage.

Required skills

• Process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
• Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
• Hydraulic and thermal calculations.
• Utilities system design and environmental discharge analysis.
• HAZOP and multidisciplinary engineering review participation.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
