Production Engineer – Structural

About the role

The Production Engineer – Structural will lead the development and execution of fabrication procedures for offshore structural projects at Qatar Fabrication Company. Reporting functionally to the Operation Engineering Manager and operationally to the Fabrication Operations Engineer, the role ensures seamless coordination of material procurement, loadout preparation, and offshore lift activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific fabrication procedures and assembly checklists.
• Initiate material procurement, RFQs for subcontracted work, and manage loadout coordination with marine and fabrication teams.
• Review drawings for constructability and lead WCR reviews before lifts, loadout, and weighing.
• Coordinate installation aids, sea fastening, and offshore lift rigging with Marine and CSE departments.
• Publish CSE deliverable lists, chair coordination meetings, and provide yard layout input.
• Prepare work pack index, issue work packs, and track execution against schedule.
• Forecast fabrication requirements, monitor progress, and report weekly productivity.
• Document change orders, update AFC estimates, and raise variance orders for extra work.
• Prepare technical queries for the client and provide field guidance to meet specifications.
• Participate in QHSES initiatives and contribute to lessons‑learned documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Preference will be given to Qatari candidates.
• Strong understanding of contractual scope, milestone schedules, and fabrication execution planning.
• Proven ability to coordinate with marine, CSE, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams.
• Experience in preparing and managing work packs, change orders, and progress reports.
