Project Manager – Projects Department

About the role

The Project Manager will lead QAFCO’s Projects Department, overseeing the full lifecycle of greenfield and brownfield initiatives across existing facilities, both during shutdowns and normal operations. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the role provides strategic direction, technical problem‑solving, and governance for a balanced portfolio of short‑ and long‑term projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve QAFCO’s project management methodology, ensuring compliance, training and sustainability.
• Plan, direct, and organise departmental activities to meet budgetary and R&A targets while optimising manpower utilisation.
• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams of Head of Sections, Project Engineers and support staff through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand‑over phases.
• Support senior management with capital planning, schedule and budget control, productivity and quality evaluation, and technical operations oversight.
• Provide regular executive‑summary reporting and monitor project balance‑score‑cards against objectives.
• Participate in performance‑management meetings and recommend organisational structures aligned with workload forecasts.
• Ensure engineering standards, technical requirements and good practices are applied, and that the Management of Change (MOC) process is followed.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end industrial projects, including greenfield and brownfield initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and coordinate across contracting, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance and compliance frameworks.
• Experience delivering projects within agreed cost, schedule and quality parameters.
• Ability to develop and monitor capital plans, balance‑score‑cards and performance metrics.
