Project Technical Manager

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Project Technical Manager to lead engineering and technical activities on complex EPC projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Reporting to the Project Manager/Director, you will ensure that all engineering deliverables meet contract requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and define the project engineering organization.
• Implement technological solutions throughout all project phases up to plant hand‑over.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and oversee engineering deliverables and outsourcing strategies.
• Lead risk management, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Make critical technical decisions, resolve discipline conflicts, and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Monitor engineering budgets, man‑hours, and material costs, proposing mitigation actions when needed.
• Support the Project Manager in client interactions, contract management, variation orders, and technical negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or related engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in EPC projects within oil & gas, energy or infrastructure.
• Proven leadership in engineering project management.
• Fluent English; additional languages (Italian, French, Arabic) are a plus.

Required skills

• Engineering design processes (conceptual to commissioning).
• Project engineering management and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Risk management, cost control and engineering budgeting.
• Knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, QA/QC and HSE requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with engineering/document management systems.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
