Projects Director – Qatar

About the role

The Projects Director leads and directs Qatar's projects and engineering functions, ensuring that all projects and engineering work is carried out according to prescribed quality, cost limits and technical support for large capital initiatives in which Qatar is involved. The position is full time and sits within the executive management team.

Key responsibilities

• Help shape Qatar's overall vision and strategy, turn it into annual operational business plans and monitor performance against them.
• Lead the division, set individual objectives, manage performance and develop and motivate the team.
• Guide project planning, organization, control and design, including technical studies and feasibility evaluations.
• Build relationships with engineering contractors and partners for architecture, design, project management, cost consultancy and construction, and identify external technical consultants.
• Review the physical condition of Qatar's assets and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Define the division's organization structure with HR and prepare and consolidate the divisional budget, monitoring financial performance.
• Oversee divisional policies, systems, processes and controls, and manage change within the department.
• Ensure timely divisional reporting and adherence to quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a recognized university; master's degree preferred.
• 12 years of experience in the utilities industry or large-scale project management environment in the GCC, with at least 8 years in managerial roles.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic.

• Expert knowledge of financial planning and capital management.
• Expert knowledge of large-scale project management concepts and techniques.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical problem-solving skills.
