PYP Teacher (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Etqan Global Academy is seeking an enthusiastic PYP Teacher to cover a maternity leave from 11 October to 17 December 2026. The successful candidate will deliver inquiry‑based learning within the IB Primary Years Programme, ensuring continuity and stability for the class.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver outstanding, inquiry‑based lessons following the existing Programme of Inquiry.
• Pick up existing planning quickly and maintain continuity of learning, routines and relationships.
• Collaborate with grade‑level colleagues, specialist teachers and the PYP Coordinator.
• Assess, record and report on student progress in line with school policy.
• Build positive relationships with students and communicate regularly with parents.
• Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school during the cover period.

Required profile

• A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE/PGDE or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience teaching the IB PYP.
• Excellent classroom practice with engaging, creative lessons.
• Ability to adapt quickly and settle into an established class and team.
• Experience of inquiry‑based and transdisciplinary learning.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
• Fluent English speaker (native or near‑native).
• Immediate start; candidates based in Qatar with the right to work are preferred.
