QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

Airswift is seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical) to support a major oil & gas client in Qatar. The role involves overseeing quality management for mechanical construction and commissioning on large‑scale process plants.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and enforce Quality Management System requirements for mechanical works.
• Prepare, review and approve Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans, Quality Control Procedures and Material Approval Requests.
• Conduct inspection and testing of static and rotating equipment, including vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, boilers, pumps, compressors and HVAC systems.
• Manage discipline inspectors, coordinate inspection activities and monitor KPIs.
• Lead contractor pre‑qualification, QMS audits, technical compliance reviews and resolve complex QA/QC disputes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of experience on greenfield or brownfield oil & gas process plants.
• IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor and professional certifications in welding, NDT, painting, insulation or refractory.
• Experience with major EPIC contractors or end‑users and strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in multicultural environments.

Required skills

• Quality Plans (QP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) development.
• Static equipment inspection (vessels, columns, heat exchangers, tanks).
• Rotating equipment inspection (pumps, compressors, fans, blowers).
• Commissioning and pre‑commissioning activities.
• Quality Surveillance Programs, Completion Management Systems, Technical Integrity Verification.
