QA/QC Engineer – Onsite Qatar (Ras Laffan)

About the role

The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality standards are met on an on‑shore oil & gas project in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This long‑term contract position involves coordinating inspection activities, analysing failures, and supporting procurement and maintenance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the activities of QA/QC inspectors, contract‑hired engineers/inspectors and NDT technicians in line with procedural requirements.
• Conduct metallurgical failure analysis on plant or offshore components to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expertise and support for QA/QC matters related to procurement of materials and equipment, including review of purchase requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Review and approve welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR) and QA/QC reports, suggesting alternative testing methods when needed.
• Participate in startup readiness, formal risk assessments (FRA), engineering management of change (EMOC) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) from a QA/QC perspective.
• Offer technical input on scope of work for maintenance contracts, evaluate contractor documents and ensure compliance with QA/QC standards.
• Conduct technical audits of suppliers’ and contractors’ quality management systems and follow up on corrective actions.
• Promote quality awareness through training, knowledge sharing and procedure roll‑out sessions for maintenance, supply and contractor teams.
• Plan and execute inspection and certification of gas cylinders, portable tanks and lifting equipment according to KPI targets.
• Support the Operations Readiness Plan (ORP) process, tracking deliverables and ensuring timely handover.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification with experience in QA/QC within the oil & gas sector.
• Proven ability to coordinate inspection teams and manage third‑party inspection activities.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical failure analysis, welding procedures and quality management systems.
