Rail Track Technician / Track Layer

About the role

SEGULA Technologies is looking for experienced Rail Track Technicians / Track Layers to join a mobilisation team for a long‑term rail infrastructure project in Lusail, Qatar. The role is hands‑on, site‑based and focuses on the installation, adjustment and alignment of railway track and associated components.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out railway track installation, adjustment and alignment activities.
• Lay tracks, rails, switches and crossings.
• Handle, position and install rails and track components, including fishplates and other rail‑connection parts.
• Prepare track foundations before concrete pouring and install related pipes and reservations.
• Install track equipment such as cable provisions, drainage systems, rail encapsulation, buffer stops and wheel stops.
• Perform rail‑joint sealing, cutting, fixing and joining, including fishplate installation.
• Operate rail drills, rail saws, coach‑screw machines and gauge‑ and level‑adjustment tools safely.
• Follow instructions from the Track Team Leader and Site Supervisor, attend toolbox talks and comply with HSE procedures.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience as a Rail Track Technician, Track Layer, Permanent Way Technician or similar railway tradesperson.
• Previous work on railway, metro, tramway or similar track infrastructure projects.
• Practical experience in track laying, adjustment and alignment.
• Basic English communication skills.
• Physically fit for outdoor manual work.

• Use of rail drills, rail saws, coach‑screw machines.
• Operation of gauge and level‑adjustment tools.
• Fishplate installation and rail‑connection techniques.
• Rail‑joint sealing, cutting, fixing, joining and encapsulation.
• Installation of track equipment (cable provisions, drainage, buffer stops, wheel stops).
• Certification for small powered tools (preferred).
