Research Associate I – AI & Computer Vision for PV Inspection

About the role

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a motivated Graduate Research Associate to advance AI‑ and computer‑vision‑based thermographic inspection of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The role is part‑time, hourly, and starts immediately.

Key responsibilities

• Develop deep‑learning algorithms for thermal image analysis.
• Build mosaics from thermal image datasets.
• Collect, curate, and analyze thermal imaging data from PV installations.
• Contribute to research publications on PV health monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or C/C++.
• Experience with Linux environments.
• Familiarity with research writing and data analysis.
