Research Associate I – Molecular Biology & Cancer Research

About the role
The Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is seeking a motivated Research Associate I to advance cancer‑focused projects in two laboratories. The position involves hands‑on experimental work, data analysis, and mentorship of junior researchers within a collaborative, on‑site environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct experiments on minor intron splicing in breast cancer (Younis Lab).
- Set up and optimize immunofluorescence, colony formation assays, and other molecular techniques.
- Perform molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and biochemistry assays.
- Design and run RNA‑Seq and other next‑generation sequencing experiments, and analyze the results.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate researchers and other lab members.
- Assist in preparing reports, manuscripts, and collaborative project documentation.
- Investigate PARP inhibition strategies in colorectal cancer cell lines (Naik Lab) and contribute to combinatorial sensitivity studies.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Prior experience with mammalian cell culture and cancer biology research.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.
