Research Associate - STEM Outreach

About the role

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) is looking for a Research Associate for HBJ to join its Computer Science Outreach Division. The role combines technical work with event logistics: coordinating internal and national outreach operations while supporting HBJ Center programs and creating hands-on technical resources. It is a full-time fixed-term position based in Doha, Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end event coordination for internal and national STEM outreach initiatives, including venue allocation, scheduling and communication with collaborators.
• Manage participant registration, venue setup, flow control and on-site resource management.
• Configure, test and maintain hardware, software and technical equipment for interactive sessions and demonstrations.
• Facilitate hands-on workshop sessions and provide direct technical support to participants across HBJ programs.
• Build, refine and update instructional guides, presentation decks and promotional assets for workshops and outreach activities.
• Work with instructors and program leads to integrate new tools, technologies and teaching methods into program curricula.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Education or a related field.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex events, multitask under tight deadlines and manage detailed operational logistics.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Enthusiasm for STEM education, youth outreach and community engagement.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience configuring hardware and setting up software.
• Experience leading technology-focused workshops.
