School Counsellor (Female) – Doha

About the role

Etqan Global Academy, an IB World School in Doha, seeks a compassionate female School Counsellor to support the social‑emotional wellbeing and academic pathways of students from Early Years through Secondary.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and small‑group counselling for students across all phases, addressing social, emotional, behavioural and mental‑health needs.
• Identify students requiring additional support and develop culturally sensitive intervention plans.
• Deliver university counselling for DP and IBCP students, guiding applications, personal statements and destination choices (Qatar, UK, USA, etc.).
• Assist MYP students with subject selection and academic planning.
• Organise university visits, career fairs, higher‑education events and parent workshops.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents, communicating progress and wellbeing.
• Contribute to the school’s safeguarding team and keep confidential records of all interventions.
• Participate in whole‑school wellbeing initiatives, workshops and awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification in Counselling, School Counselling or Educational Psychology.
• Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP, ACA).
• Minimum three years’ experience in school counselling or student support.
• Demonstrated ability to combine social‑emotional counselling with university/academic guidance.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child‑protection in an international context.
• Excellent cross‑cultural communication skills and fluency in English; Arabic is desirable.
• Experience in Qatar or the Middle East and familiarity with the IB framework is a plus.

• Knowledge of university application processes for Qatar, UK, USA and other international destinations.
• Proficiency in maintaining confidential records and producing reports.
