School Counsellor – Holistic Student Support

About the role

Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha seeks a compassionate female School Counsellor to deliver holistic counselling across Early Years, Primary and Secondary phases. The role blends social‑emotional wellbeing support with academic and university guidance for a diverse, ambitious student body.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and small‑group counselling addressing social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.
• Identify students in difficulty and implement culturally sensitive support plans.
• Deliver comprehensive university counselling for DP and IBCP students, including application guidance and personal statement support.
• Assist MYP students with subject selection and academic pathway planning.
• Organise university visits, career fairs, higher‑education events and parent workshops.
• Build strong relationships with parents, communicating proactively about wellbeing and academic progress.
• Serve as a key member of the safeguarding team, maintaining confidential records of interventions.
• Contribute to whole‑school wellbeing initiatives, workshops and awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification in Counselling, School Counselling or Educational Psychology.
• Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP, ACA).
• Minimum three years’ experience in school counselling or student support.
• Experience providing both social‑emotional counselling and university/academic guidance.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child‑protection requirements in an international context.
• Excellent cross‑cultural, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic language skills desirable.
