Security Operations Officer – Data Security

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Security Operations Officer specializing in data security to design, implement and manage enterprise‑wide data protection strategies across on‑premise and multi‑cloud environments. The role will protect sensitive information, ensure regulatory compliance and embed security controls throughout the data lifecycle, including AI‑driven systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy data protection controls such as DLP, data masking, tokenization and encryption across cloud (GCP, Azure) and on‑premise systems.
• Implement and manage data discovery, classification and governance tools to identify and protect sensitive data.
• Configure and maintain encryption at rest, in transit and in use, including BYOK and secrets‑management solutions.
• Define cryptographic standards, manage key lifecycle and ensure compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, PDPP).
• Secure relational and NoSQL databases, implement Database Activity Monitoring and conduct regular vulnerability assessments.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure and AI/ML teams to integrate security into development pipelines.
• Support incident response by investigating data breaches and insider threats, and produce compliance and risk reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in information security with a focus on data protection, cryptography and database security.
• Proven experience securing data in multi‑cloud environments, preferably GCP and Azure.
• Strong knowledge of global privacy regulations and Qatar NCSA framework.
