Senior Engineer – AIX Administration

About the role

The client is looking for a Senior Engineer with deep expertise in AIX and Linux system administration, as well as storage and cloud environments. The role ensures secure, efficient, and reliable operation of critical IT infrastructure, supporting both production and non‑production workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade AIX infrastructure software such as GPFS, PowerHA, VIOS, and PowerVM.
• Install, configure, and manage IBM AIX systems and perform AIX/Linux patching.
• Provide L3 support for AIX servers, VIO servers, and related issues, participating in an on‑call rotation.
• Monitor events, log incidents in ServiceNow, and lead technical bridges during service disruptions.
• Perform system recovery using mksysb images and manage disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Design, configure, and maintain LPARs, including cloning standards and profile creation.
• Administer SAN environments, including storage arrays (IBM SVC, FS7200, FS900, V7000), HP 3PAR, and Brocade switches.
• Deploy and manage Azure virtual machines, networks, and storage resources.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in AIX and Red Hat Linux administration.
• Proven ability to work in an on‑call rotation and handle L3 support tickets.
• Strong knowledge of P9 pSeries hardware architectures and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with disaster‑recovery planning and execution.
