Senior Immigration Specialist

About the role

The Senior Immigration Specialist will lead and enhance McDermott's global immigration program. Leveraging deep expertise, you will act as a subject‑matter resource, mentor less‑experienced colleagues, and ensure compliance with all immigration policies.

Key responsibilities

• Identify immigration trends and set program‑level goals and initiatives.
• Advise on complex case‑level filing strategies, conducting independent research and policy interpretation.
• Develop processes, filing strategies, and resourcing plans in partnership with Recruitment, HR, Legal, Risk & Compliance, and Public Policy teams.
• Educate HR and business partners on immigration policies and their impact on hiring strategies.
• Collaborate with Global Immigration Program Managers to create performance metrics and health‑check tools.
• Conduct regular process reviews to maintain compliance, close gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
• Recommend system enhancements from a technical perspective.
• Provide strategic communications advice to the Immigration Communications and Content team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Legal, Business Management or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of global immigration experience.
• Deep understanding of immigration landscapes and trends across regions.
• Proven experience building, implementing, and managing large‑scale immigration programs.
• Experience with vendor transitions, new‑country onboarding, and immigration audits.
• Track record negotiating immigration concessions with government authorities.
• Strong adaptability, collaboration skills in a matrixed environment, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• High accountability, sound judgment, and ability to thrive amid change.
