Senior Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to lead the supervision of instrumentation, control and automation works for a major roads, infrastructure and drainage programme in Qatar. The role focuses on surface‑water and foul‑sewer pump stations, attenuation tanks, rising mains and associated monitoring and protection systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead consultant‑side supervision of instrumentation, control and automation works across multiple work packages, especially pumping‑station systems.
• Review contractor shop drawings, calculations, material submittals, method statements, inspection and test plans, control philosophies and technical submissions.
• Supervise installation, interfacing, testing and commissioning of field instruments on pump inlets, outlets, rising mains, tanks and chambers.
• Verify operation of level, flow, pressure, vibration, conductivity and other monitoring devices as per design.
• Review PLC, SCADA and HMI architecture, panel layouts, I/O schedules, communications, alarms, interlocks, data logging and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate instrumentation requirements with mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, process, SCADA, communications and commissioning teams.
• Witness factory inspections, FAT, SAT, loop checks, calibration, functional and integrated system testing.
• Monitor installation quality, cable termination, tagging, calibration, configuration and preservation of equipment.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in instrumentation, control and automation for water‑related infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to supervise installation and commissioning of complex control systems.
• Strong understanding of pump protection logic, interlocks and safety functions.
• Excellent technical review skills for drawings, calculations and testing procedures.
