Senior Internal Audit Manager - Construction Projects

About the role

Power International Holding (PIH) is looking for an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager to join its Group Internal Audit function in Qatar. The role leads and executes risk-based internal audits across construction operations, covering governance, risk management, internal controls, project controls, procurement, contract management and financial processes. It acts as a trusted advisor to business leadership while independently assessing operational, financial and compliance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and execute risk-based internal audit engagements under the IIA IPPF, and build annual audit programmes from risk assessments and business priorities.
• Evaluate internal controls, governance and risk management frameworks, identify weaknesses and give practical recommendations.
• Audit controls across the construction project lifecycle: planning, design management, procurement and tendering, contract administration, construction execution, closeout and handover; assess cost controls, budgeting, forecasting and cost-to-complete reporting.
• Review variation orders, claims, extensions of time, subcontract administration and commercial controls.
• Audit procurement controls, bidding, vendor prequalification, tender evaluation, contract awards, supplier performance and subcontractor governance.
• Develop Risk Control Matrices (RCMs), run Design Effectiveness and Operating Effectiveness testing, conduct fieldwork and interviews, and prepare risk-focused audit reports presented to senior management.
• Monitor corrective actions and work with project directors, commercial managers, finance and procurement teams.
• Supervise and mentor internal audit team members and help develop audit methodologies and reporting frameworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years of internal audit, risk, assurance or compliance experience.
• Extensive experience auditing construction, EPC, infrastructure, contracting or project-based organisations.
• Preferred: Big 4 experience with construction exposure, experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, and a professional certification (CIA, CPA, ACCA, CFE).
• Must be willing to be based in Qatar.
