Senior Manager – AML/CFT Governance

About the role

Commercial Bank of Qatar is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its AML/CFT and Sanctions Governance function. The role ensures that policies, procedures and controls remain aligned with local regulations, FATF standards and international sanctions regimes, while providing expert guidance to the first and second lines of defence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update AML/CFT and sanctions policies, operating procedures and related controls.
• Supervise the L3 sanctions screening and L3 AML monitoring teams to guarantee detection, reporting and mitigation of suspicious or sanctioned activities.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, feedback and development for sub‑ordinates and act as the primary point of contact for AML/CFT queries from the 1LOD and 2LOD.
• Lead KYC remediation projects, design and deliver AML/CFT training material, and manage the annual AML/CFT governance plan.
• Oversee the management and updating of sanctions screening lists and review high‑risk customer escalations, including EDD and PEP assessments.
• Contribute to budgeting, monitor financial performance and ensure compliance with audit, legal and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in AML/CFT, sanctions compliance and governance within a banking environment.
• Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements, FATF recommendations and international sanctions frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage budgets and interact with multiple lines of defence.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to address complex compliance queries.
