Senior Planning / Cost Engineer - Doha / Ras Laffan

About the role

This role provides expert advice and services on project planning, scheduling, reporting and material control for all Technical Services projects, supporting successful delivery within defined timelines and quality standards. It covers both Doha and Ras Laffan sites.

Key responsibilities

• Review, recommend enhancements and implement project management and planning procedures for upstream technical services projects.
• Carry out the initial scope review and phase the initial project budget with the project management team.
• Track project progress and alert project management to deviations so corrective action can be taken.
• Analyse scheduling interfaces with other projects to minimise clashes and delays.
• Liaise with Procurement and Contracts on procurement, materials, logistics and resource requirements.
• Review contractor schedule delay claims and analyse the impact of proposed scope changes.
• Coordinate budget proposals and develop monthly cost reports with variance analysis.
• Support cost estimation for new service contracts and prepare realistic cost estimates and budgets for new projects.
• Implement cost control through budgets, commitment tracking, expenditure monitoring, cost and cash forecasting and analysis.
• Identify areas where contractor cost estimates on variations and claims can be reduced and support negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• 8 years of relevant work experience in project planning in a similar large manufacturing facility in the energy sector.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP or a similar enterprise portal application.
• Ability to identify project critical paths and set milestones.
• Project resource planning and estimation.
