Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer

About the role

Airswift is looking for a Senior Process Safety & Risk Engineer to join a major oil & gas company in Qatar. The role focuses on deploying and implementing asset‑based process safety, loss prevention and risk engineering programmes, ensuring compliance with industry standards across existing facilities and new projects.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the company’s process safety, loss prevention and risk management objectives for assigned assets.
• Provide safety and risk engineering input and review for engineering documents, project deliverables and interface documents.
• Facilitate hazard identification (HAZID) and risk assessment studies, preparing comprehensive reports.
• Lead major safety studies such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), HAZOP, SIL baseline/re‑validation and Safety Case development.
• Coordinate with external consultants and internal functional groups to produce high‑quality safety documentation.
• Manage Safety Case and Barrier Management activities, ensuring effective safety barriers are identified, implemented and maintained.
• Review Management of Change (MOC) requests from a safety and technical perspective.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Safety Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in process safety, loss prevention and risk management within the oil & gas sector.
• Proven experience leading HAZOP, HAZID and other hazard identification techniques.
• Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods.
• Experience with EPC, commissioning and startup phases is an advantage.
