Senior Project Accountant

About the role

The Senior Project Accountant will strengthen project accounting practices within McDermott, acting as a mentor for less‑experienced colleagues and applying deep domain knowledge to complex financial challenges. This role supports multiple project teams, ensuring accurate billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting in line with contract terms.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to interpret contract billing requirements and prepare customer invoices.
• Generate and review intercompany billing information, balances, and unbilled cost accruals.
• Produce executive summary reports for intercompany projects and verify data alignment.
• Run monthly system and accounts‑receivable reports, correcting discrepancies as needed.
• Coordinate with project managers, controls, procurement, and subcontract coordinators to maintain healthy cash‑flows and forecast accuracy.
• Maintain internal financial controls, ensuring timely client invoicing and proper cost recording.
• Serve as the primary interface for client audits and perform cost analysis for projects.
• Provide ad‑hoc reporting support for local and corporate management.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within oil & gas, EPCI, or construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Relevant professional certification (Chartered Accountant, ACCA, CPA, etc.).
• Proven experience with billing processes in the energy and construction sectors.
• Familiarity with ERP accounting software.
