Senior Software Engineer – Embedded & Autonomous Systems

About the role

Rheinmetall Barzan Advanced Technologies (RBAT) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer specialized in embedded and autonomous systems. You will join a fast‑growing engineering team working on defense‑grade robotics and real‑time applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance C++ applications for embedded and autonomous platforms.
• Integrate sensors, autopilot systems and robotics middleware (ROS/ROS2, MAVLink, PX4, ArduPilot).
• Develop autonomous navigation, planning, control and sensor‑fusion algorithms.
• Implement real‑time communications using networking and middleware technologies.
• Contribute to AI, machine‑learning and computer‑vision capabilities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated operational solutions.
• Participate in software architecture, code reviews, testing and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in embedded software and system development.
• Strong expertise in C++ and real‑time software engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with ROS/ROS2, MAVLink/MAVROS, PX4, ArduPilot or similar platforms.
• Experience with sensor integration, distributed systems and communication protocols.
• Familiarity with Agile development, Git, CI/CD, JIRA and Confluence.
