Senior Systems Engineer – Application Development

About the role

QatarEnergy Trading is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to design, develop and maintain innovative software solutions that integrate with its trading platform. The role focuses on automating business processes, improving risk control and supporting the growth of the trading business through high‑level automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build multi‑tier software applications using C#.NET and AngularJS that align with QET’s IT architecture.
• Develop, deploy and maintain Azure‑based services (AAD, Functions, Service Bus, App Services, Storage, SQL, Cosmos DB).
• Provide timely technical support to ensure continuous operation of in‑house trading solutions.
• Establish a DevOps framework, implement CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub) and manage infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform).
• Lead external consultants and developers, define technical requirements, create test cases and oversee delivery timelines.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, conduct proofs of concept and share knowledge across the team.
• Apply security standards throughout the software development lifecycle and address system vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience designing and implementing multi‑tier solutions with C#.NET and AngularJS in a commodity trading, banking or hedge‑fund environment.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with Azure services and cloud deployment practices.
• Proven experience in backend API development (RESTful, GraphQL) and frontend SPA development with Angular.
• Strong background in CI/CD tooling, infrastructure‑as‑code (Bicep or Terraform) and SQL/database design.
• Ability to execute full SDLC activities using Agile methodologies.
• Understanding of micro‑services architecture; knowledge of micro‑frontend, STP and FIX protocol is a plus.
