About the role
We are looking for a SHEQ Manager to lead all Safety, Health, Environment and Quality activities for our NSW fleet and crew. The role ensures compliance with marine standards, promotes a strong safety culture and aligns our policies with international regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain NSW’s Safety Management System (HMS) in line with international and local standards.
- Monitor industry developments on SHEQ regulations, assess impact and update policies.
- Collaborate with all NSW functions to ensure full compliance with SHEQ standards, KPIs and objectives.
- Act as SHEQ ambassador for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage internal and external audits (OVMSA, ISM, ISPS, OVID) and coordinate with flag registries and class authorities.
- Produce monthly and ad‑hoc SHEQ reports for the organization and clients.
- Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and drive safety improvement initiatives.
- Oversee ship husbandry to maintain vessels to NSW standards.
- Coordinate SHEQ training, certifications and inductions according to the NSW Training Matrix.
- Maintain emergency plans, PPE provision and promote a ‘Safe to speak up’ culture.
Required profile
- Proven experience in marine SHEQ management or a similar safety‑focused role.
- Strong knowledge of international maritime safety standards (ISM Code, ISPS Code, OVMSA, OVID).
- Demonstrated ability to lead audits and manage compliance with flag state and class requirements.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal teams, clients, regulators and auditors.
- Ability to analyse incidents, develop preventive actions and drive continuous improvement.
