Software Engineering Intern – Summer 2027

About the role

Scale is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join its Global Public Sector team in San Francisco for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on real‑world AI products, contributing code that ships to customers and gaining mentorship from senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement reinforcement‑learning and post‑training data pipelines for frontier model development.
• Build evaluation infrastructure to measure model reliability for enterprise and public‑sector clients.
• Develop and ship agentic AI applications, ensuring they are observable, testable, and safe to deploy.
• Create tools that accelerate contributor onboarding and improve fraud‑detection on Scale’s platform.
• Implement algorithms for task quality estimation, contributor matching, and large‑scale UI/UX tooling.
• Contribute to new AI infrastructure products for data visualization, querying, and exploration.

Required profile

• Graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, EECS, Computer Engineering, Statistics or a related field.
• Available for a Summer 2027 internship (May/June start) in San Francisco.
• Previous software engineering internship experience with a proven record of shipping high‑quality features.
• Experience building full‑stack web applications, integrating APIs, and handling large data volumes.
