SPPID Designer – Process & Instrumentation Design

About the role

The SPPID Designer will be responsible for maintaining and updating Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) within the SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) environment. Working on‑site in Qatar, you will collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance and EPC contractors to ensure accurate, compliant documentation of all facility modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Timely update of P&IDs, PFDs and related data in SPPID as part of facility changes.
• Verify and field‑validate changes, ensuring consistency with engineering standards.
• Create and maintain new P&IDs, as‑built revisions, and resolve inconsistencies.
• Provide updated drawing information to project engineering, operations and maintenance teams.
• Perform QA/QC checks on deliverables from EPC service providers.
• Coordinate software upgrades and issue resolution with the SPPID service provider.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Process, Mechanical or Instrumentation engineering.
• 5‑6 years of hands‑on experience with SmartPlant P&ID in oil & gas, petrochemical or refinery environments.
• Strong understanding of engineering data management and drawing standards.

Required skills

• SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) proficiency.
• MicroStation application experience.
• Engineering Data Editor usage.
• Instrument loop creation and management.
• QA/QC checking of engineering deliverables.
• Drawing management and OPC Intelligent usage.
