Stationary Equipment Technician

About the role

The Stationary Equipment Technician is responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of stationary assets such as vessels, columns, exchangers, and piping. The role involves performing a range of non‑destructive testing (NDT) techniques, managing repair documentation, and supporting risk‑based inspection programs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical integrity inspections of stationary equipment, both internal and external.
• Perform NDT methods including Dye Penetrant Test, Magnetic Particle Test, Radiography interpretation, hardness testing, video‑probe/boroscopy inspections, and ultrasonic thickness monitoring.
• Manage welder performance qualifications, repair alteration sheets, and the Management of Change process.
• Assist the Static Equipment Engineer with risk‑based inspection planning and data collection.
• Maintain inspection tools, calibrate equipment, and ensure adequate consumable inventory.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports in Meridium software and act as site representative for contract work.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies, and contribute to Qatarization efforts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or vocational training, or a 2‑3 year engineering diploma.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of relevant experience in the chemical, power, or oil & gas industry.
• Familiarity with pressure‑envelope equipment and corrosion monitoring.

Required skills

• Welding inspection and joint fit‑up.
• Dye Penetrant Test, Magnetic Particle Test, Radiography interpretation.
• Hardness testing and video‑probe/boroscopy.
• Ultrasonic thickness monitoring and corrosion circuit building.
• Use of Meridium inspection software.
• Calibration and maintenance of inspection tools.
