Student Support Teacher (SEN) – Elementary School

About the role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated Student Support Teacher for its SEN – Elementary School, starting 1 August 2026. The role focuses on delivering inclusive education and supporting diverse learners in line with the academy’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the curriculum with up‑to‑date subject knowledge, adapting lessons for varied learning styles.
• Plan, prepare and document lesson plans, resources, assessments and attendance records.
• Teach students according to individual needs, including late‑entering, ESL, low‑ability, gifted and talented learners.
• Set, mark and assess work, reporting academic progress and using assessment data to tailor instruction.
• Utilise media and technology effectively within the classroom.
• Promote student well‑being, cultural awareness and self‑discipline, managing behaviour positively.
• Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed of progress while respecting confidentiality.
• Collaborate with colleagues on teaching materials, co‑curricular programmes and school events.
• Participate in appraisal, CPD and school committees as required.
