Switchgear Protection and Commissioning Engineer

About the role

We are seeking experienced Switchgear Protection & Commissioning Engineers to join a short‑term project in Qatar. The role involves independently performing commissioning and testing of high‑voltage switchgear and protection relays for a 3‑4 month assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute CT/VT, circuit breaker, primary and secondary injection, HV, contact resistance, insulation resistance, and electrical interlock tests.
• Carry out protection relay binary I/O, final setting and logic tests.
• Prepare and submit test reports ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Coordinate with site teams and manage test equipment such as Omicron and Megger.
• Support troubleshooting and corrective actions during commissioning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in high‑voltage substations, utility or industrial projects.
• Previous involvement in GCC or Middle‑East commissioning projects.
• Familiarity with Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE or SEL relay platforms.
• Ability to work independently without senior engineer supervision.
• Preferably North African citizens or Qatar residents for short‑term visa compliance.
