Tax Officer

About the role

The role supports the Group Tax team with routine tax compliance, mainly Qatar withholding tax (WHT) obligations, and occasional filings for overseas entities. The post holder handles day‑to‑day compliance tasks and serves as the first point of contact for simple tax queries.

Key responsibilities

• Monthly WHT filing: identify, validate, prepare and submit the monthly WHT return and ensure payment by the due date.
• Contract reporting: collate supporting documents and download credit/debit notes for daily and weekly reporting.
• First point of contact for tax queries: respond to simple internal questions and escalate technical issues to the Head of Tax.
• Prepare tax residency certificate requests and other routine forms for WHT relief.
• UAE VAT filing: prepare the quarterly VAT return for a small UAE entity in collaboration with Finance.
• UK Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) filing: prepare data for the filing with guidance provided.
• Monitor the tax compliance calendar, flag upcoming deadlines, and support periodic tax activities.
• Ad‑hoc support: assist with requests from tax authorities and Finance, gathering data and documents as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience in Qatar tax compliance.
• Good working knowledge of Excel.
• Able to work independently and manage recurring deadlines with limited supervision.
• Organised and accurate, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
• Clear communication in English; Arabic is an advantage.
