Technical & Engineering Director – Data Centers

About the role

The Data Center Technical Manager is a senior engineering position within UCC Holding’s Power & Digital delivery division. Reporting to the COO and Data Center Executive Director, you will be the day‑to‑day technical authority for data‑center projects, ensuring designs meet hyperscale and colocation standards and are ready for construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑disciplinary engineering teams across power, cooling, civil/structural and ICT disciplines.
• Own technical standards, design basis documents and ensure all designs are constructable and installation‑ready.
• Manage inter‑discipline coordination and clash resolution using 3D plant modelling tools such as REVIT.
• Oversee HV/MV/LV power architecture, UPS, battery storage, generator systems and power redundancy models.
• Direct cooling system design, targeting PUE benchmarks of 1.2–1.4 for AI‑ready campuses.
• Supervise civil and structural design, including foundations, raised floors, data halls and seismic considerations.
• Control ICT infrastructure design, structured cabling, fiber backbone and carrier‑neutral meet‑me rooms.
• Engage commissioning teams early to define testability, safety sequences and complete handover packages.

Required profile

• Senior engineering professional with extensive experience in data‑center design and delivery.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical risk.
• Strong coordination skills with OEMs, consultants and internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• REVIT or equivalent 3D plant modelling tools.
• HV/MV/LV power system design, UPS, battery storage and generator integration.
• Power redundancy modeling, protection, metering and power‑quality analysis.
• Cooling system design (air‑side economisation, chillers, liquid cooling) and PUE optimisation.
• Plumbing, drainage, HVAC, fire‑suppression design.
• Energy modelling and performance validation.
• Civil/structural engineering, foundations, raised‑floor systems, seismic design.
• ICT infrastructure, structured cabling, fiber optics, carrier‑neutral meet‑me rooms.
• DCIM integration, commissioning, CX documentation, ITP, FAT and SAT procedures.
