Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant leads the accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. This senior position oversees the accounting team, drives policy development, and acts as the primary liaison with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the accounting department, guaranteeing precise recording of all financial transactions.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff to maintain high productivity and professionalism.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash‑flow reports.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate audits and regulatory reviews, maintaining strong relationships with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Provide financial analysis, variance and trend reporting, and KPI insights to senior management.
• Identify performance improvement opportunities and recommend cost‑saving or revenue‑enhancing actions.
• Collaborate with department heads to deliver financial guidance and support.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership experience in supervising accounting teams.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to staying current with changes in accounting standards and best practices.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of GAAP/IFRS accounting standards.
