Civil Engineer – Maintenance Team Lead

About the role

The Civil Engineer will lead a maintenance team within a facilities management environment, ensuring both preventive and corrective tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. The role involves directing senior technical officers, supervising subcontractors, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and train the maintenance team, ensuring they have the correct knowledge of assets and installations.
• Plan, schedule and supervise preventive (PPM) and corrective maintenance activities to meet deadlines.
• Coordinate subcontractor visits, supervise their work, and ensure all permits and approvals are obtained.
• Prepare technical reports, defect logs, and documentation required for internal or external audits.
• Monitor spare‑part inventories, forecast requirements and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Lead special projects and act as liaison with customer managers as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and HSEQ standards, including toolbox talks and PPE usage.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering with at least 8 years of maintenance management experience in a comparable facility.
• Strong team‑building, problem‑solving and dispute‑resolution abilities.
• Good knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, MSDS, NFPA and BS standards.
• Computer literacy and ability to produce method statements, risk assessments and COSHH documentation.
