Electrical Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), switchgear, transformers and LV/MV power distribution networks.
• Maintain PLC and SCADA related electrical components, panels, breakers, relays and control circuits.
• Assist in plant start‑up, shutdown and commissioning activities.
• Monitor electrical performance, identify potential failures and support emergency breakdowns on a shift basis.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical and instrumentation teams to minimise downtime.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports and spare‑parts inventory.

Required profile

• Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• 3–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in water treatment, wastewater treatment or desalination plants.
• Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, VFDs, MCCs and LV/MV electrical systems.
• Familiarity with electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
