Electrical Power Production Technician

About the role

The Electrical Power Production Technician installs, operates, and maintains electrical generating plants and related mobile or ground power equipment. The role ensures continuous, safe power production through regular inspections, troubleshooting, and synchronization of generators.

Key responsibilities

• Install and operate electrical power plants, distribution equipment, and automatic transfer panels.
• Inspect, test, and service components such as engines, generators, switchgear, air compressors, pumps, regulators, and governors.
• Read and interpret instruments including ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, and temperature/pressure recorders.
• Adjust and synchronize multi‑generator systems to maintain proper voltage, frequency, and phase alignment.
• Operate high‑voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other control devices.
• Perform corrosion control, gauge replacement, bench checks, calibration, and repair of defective components.
• Document inspections, maintenance actions, meter readings, fuel consumption, and performance data.
• Analyze layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to develop and improve maintenance procedures.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in operation and maintenance of engines, generators, and distribution components of electric power production equipment.
